Inspiration from a Rowdy Crowd | Riding the Lightning at a Treaty Oak Revival Concert

Where is the best place to find inspiration for what folks wear when they want to express who they are? Wherever they gather. And where do the the rowdy make a ruckus? At a Treaty Oak Revival concert, of course! 

Back on July 11th, our favorite red-dirt rock band from Odessa, Texas pulled into Lincoln for an unforgettable night. Having seen them once before in Kearney, Nebraska, we knew what to expect, but they sure stepped up their game!

From lighting, visuals, sound quality, and playlist, Treaty Oak Revival ("TOR") tore up the stage and electrified the crowd. Always on the lookout, Sheena spotted some classic and new styles that hit at home with the theme and purpose of High Plains Ruckus. You'll see some of these styles come onto our web-store in the coming months. But don't dismay! DISCLAIMER: this is not a band you take your grandma (unless she's a rocker) or your young children to see. The songs focus on many of the hard times in life and whooping it up in responsible, and irresponsible ways. 

Back to the concert... 

Leading off as openers were the Gannon Fremin & CCREV and William Clark Green bands. Both bands had the styles and sounds to be expected when it comes to Country-Rock and Red Dirt music. We thoroughly enjoyed the openers and recommend checking them out on their own. 

When it comes to the headliner, there is no other. The one and only Treaty Oak Revival has taken hold like a wildfire across the plains fanned on by the winds of the rough, rowdy, and young. If you like classic rock, classic country, and the newer "red dirt" genre, this is a band you must take a listen to. With incredible instrumentals and killer lyrics, it's hard to describe just how good this group really is. 'TASTY' is a single word that comes to mind when considering the guitar rifts and solos in any of their songs. 

The band seamlessly transitioned from song to song, covering all the crowd favorites - BOOMTOWN USA, ODE TO BOURBON, NO VACANCY, STAY TUNED, Etc. - but also some of the newer hits from their latest album, West Texas Degenerate.

Boomtown USA was particularly memorable, as just before kicking it off, lead singer Sam Canty asked everyone to make some noise and party hard. With the opening lick of the song, the crowd went wild and the air was filled with hoots, hollers, and beverages.

It has become a underlying theme at TOR concerts for drinks to be sprayed, and thrown, during certain songs. As a result, there was a strict clear-plastic-cup-only beverage policy so injury and upset is prevented. Consider yourself warned, a TOR concert may result in your walking away a little damp and with a big smile on your face. 

As to be expected of a Nebraska crowd, most everyone was fun, polite, rowdy, and full of excitement. Should you have a chance to see them in person in Nebraska, or any state in this fine Union, make sure you don't miss your chance!
